Signing up for a free account
Signing up for a free Amazon Web Services (AWS) account is an ideal way to begin exploring its capabilities. Provide your email address and valid phone number; after entering these, a verification code will be generated that allows you to continue the sign-up process.
Next, provide your credit card details. This is necessary for billing purposes, and Amazon will perform a small transaction (refunded later) to validate your card; any services outside the free tier limit won’t incur additional costs.

Signing up for a paid account

After entering personal or professional information and reading and accepting the AWS Customer Agreement, you’ll need to provide your billing address – be sure it has an active phone number! Finally, choose your support plan, whether a free tier gives access to multiple AWS services with limited restrictions or pay extra for expert advice and time from developers.
Once you submit the required information, you must verify your identity by entering a code provided on-screen or using mobile device authentication.
Once the verification process is completed, you can link your VMware Aria Cost account with an existing AWS account. If AWS reports an organization as unlinkable, hover your cursor over its disabled Link button to view an information tooltip with further details.
Activating your account
As part of creating your account on AWS, you are asked to select an account name and password before accessing websites and services from AWS. This step ensures that only you can access account resources; multi-factor authentication provides additional safeguards against security risks.
On the following page, provide your contact details and select an account type: Professional or Personal are suitable options for most users. Once complete, press “Continue.” Don’t forget to read over our Customer Agreement document, too – and follow its terms!
After that, enter your payment information. AWS may charge a small amount to verify your account; this money will be refunded within several days. This process should take no more than a few minutes; should any queries arise or additional details need to be provided, please reach out to AWS support – they’re more than happy to assist! Additionally, an email requesting more information from you about your account will be sent so that activation doesn’t get delayed by promptly missing replies to their inquiries.
Managing your account
Once you have established an AWS account, it is critical to manage it effectively, as failing to do so can quickly rack up costs. One of your first tasks should be creating an administrative account without superuser privileges to safeguard against accidentally deleting all associated resources and prevent malicious activity by other users.
Add multi-factor authentication to your account using mobile authentication devices supported by Amazon Web Services, such as smartphones, or physical tokens to receive a verification code and gain entry.
