Finding Perfect Colleen Hoover

5

Finding Perfect Colleen Hoover is a captivating and dynamic tale about relationships and what it takes to maintain them. It explores its darker sides and how love can bring healing even when faced with challenging circumstances.

Colleen Hoover’s books appeal to a broad readership because of their wide-ranging genre appeal, though her romance books tend to attract specific readers.

Slammed

Slammed is Colleen Hoover’s debut novel and the inaugural book in her series. It follows 18-year-old Layken Cohen, whose life is upended after moving from Texas to Michigan with her mother and brother. Soon, Layken meets handsome new neighbor Will Cooper – 21 and interested in poetry slam poetry – whom she soon meets during an unexpected first date at a poetry slam where they discover a surprising connection between themselves that they hadn’t expected.

This book is both romantic and mysterious, making for an exciting read. The characters are very likable, and its storyline is captivating; however, I wasn’t particularly fond of how Will used his student loans to raise his brother on them alone despite promising Julia (Layken’s mother) they would use their funds prudently and don’t understand why Will disregarded this promise.

I had other minor complaints with this book; these concerns are more subtle. I didn’t appreciate how slam poetry was depicted; it seemed very formulaic compared to how it appears live. Furthermore, I wasn’t fond of how the ending was managed – without spoiling anything here, let’s say I was disappointed with its resolution.

Overall, Slammed was an enjoyable read, and I highly recommend it. I can’t wait to read what Colleen Hoover has planned next in this series! Contemporary romance fans should try Slammed; you won’t be disappointed!

Point of Retreat

Colleen Hoover is an author who draws in readers across all age groups. Her bestseller charts-topping books are known for being heartbreaking and romantic, covering genres including romance, thriller, and suspense, writing for young adult readers and adults alike, and touching upon subjects like depression, addiction, and domestic violence.

Slammed is back with its sequel, Point of Retreat! Layken and Will’s story continues, but their emotions have intensified significantly, overcoming many hardships together and becoming more assertive. But now, their relationship could be threatened when Will’s past reappears and disrupts their hopes of having a happy family together.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. The ending leaves readers wanting more, making this must-read for fans of Slammed as its plot and characters are similar; the writing is more mature, and its sexual scenes less explicit than in Slammed.

Although some parts felt episodic, overall, this story was terrific. My favorites included Julia’s, Gavin’s, and Eddie’s Jar of Stars, as well as Lake’s Slam Poetry performance and Will’s resolve to stay by her side – all things which left an impactful mark on me!

Hoover’s work is captivating, so I would strongly advise fans of the Slammed series and newcomers alike to read it and discover her incredible story-telling talent! I loved reading it and am confident you will, too! However, if you prefer lighter novels, I suggest seeking another Hoover title instead; trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

This Girl

No matter if you are an established Colleen Hoover reader or just starting, choosing which of her books to read first can be challenging. While there’s no exact way of reading them all in order, some prefer reading by publication date, while others pick specific storylines or genres they enjoy.

The New York Times-bestselling Slammed trilogy brought many readers to tears with its breathtaking tales of love, passion, and heartbreak. In This Girl, Layken and Will’s complex relationship takes center stage as Will tells their tale from his perspective; their fate hinges upon how well they deal with their past in this captivating conclusion to the Slammed trilogy.

Can 11-year-olds read Colleen Hoover’s books? No. Her works contain complex thematic content and explicit romantic elements, including sensitive topics such as domestic violence. Therefore, it would not be wise for 11-year-olds to read her works.

Most of her books target Young Adults aged 14 and up; some also carry Mature Adult ratings of 17+; however, several require readers aged 21 or above for maximum enjoyment.

One thing her fans love most about her books is the amount of suffering that her characters must go through. She has an uncanny way of making even the most painful events sound beautiful and meaningful.

Her writing style is not overly verbose but has an honest, heartfelt feel. Her characters are relatable, drawing you in quickly from the start of each book’s storyline and teaching you how to deal with its good and bad moments.

Fans of her earlier works will appreciate her short novella that brings back some of their favorite characters from Hopeless and Losing Hope and All Your Perfects, her standalone book about infertility and finding someone suitable.

All Your Perfects

Colleen Hoover’s novel is an emotionally compelling tale of love, loss, and hope. It chronicles the trials and tribulations of marriage and infertility struggles, with an eye toward cheating or secrets in relationships and their effects.

The story is told through alternating chapters spanning both past and present periods. This allows readers to understand Quinn and Graham’s life together more fully – from their unlikely start, overflowing love, and painful divorce proceedings. Quinn offers first-person insight into this tale in her narration as told through Quinn’s first-person perspective.

It may be challenging, but this book is well worth your while. The characters are highly relatable, and the narrative will draw you in. I particularly liked how this story wasn’t just about infertility and issues in marriage relationships that may cause dissolution.

All Your Perfects by Hoover is another superb example of her novels’ power to move readers and make them think. Hoover excels at showing readers the reality of romance while leaving us with hope for happiness in life.

Hoover is a #1 New York Times Bestseller with over 22 books published to date. Her writing covers young adult and contemporary romance, psychological thrillers, and psychological suspense with titles such as Confess and It Ends With Us, among many more. All Your Perfects, her latest novel about an infertile marriage experiencing infidelity, will have you reaching for someone who has also read it to discuss what has just been read, making this must-read romantic fiction book one to devour.
