The Sony Xperia XZ3 is a great phone with a stunning OLED display, top-tier hardware, and top-level build quality. It’s up against some big-name rivals, but it’s worth a look at if you can afford it.
One of the main highlights is the 6-inch OLED screen. It looks gorgeous and is an improvement over the 5.7-inch LCD panel in the XZ2.
Display
The Sony Xz3’s display is a highlight of the phone and easily surpasses all its rivals in brightness, color depth, and vibrancy. The 6-inch QHD+ (1,440 x 2,880) HDR OLED screen looks stunning onscreen.
One of the essential features of the XZ3’s display is that it doesn’t have a notch. This means there’s no gap between the top and bottom of the screen, which is a plus point for those who are a little tired of notch phones.
The XZ3’s screen is also packed with tech, including the X-Reality for mobile optimization engine that automatically upscales low-quality SDR video to near QHD HDR levels. It also uses Dynamic Contrast Enhancer and Triluminos Display to boost color and contrast levels, letting you enjoy a truly immersive experience.
Camera
Cameras are always essential to any phone, and the Sony Xperia XZ3 does an excellent job. The 19-megapixel Motion Eye primary sensor performs well, offering detailed and saturated images with a wide dynamic range.
It’s also an excellent low-light performer, and auto-exposure and white balance are rarely off the mark. It’s no match for the Pixel 3 or Galaxy Note 9, but it offers some excellent features, including 4K HDR video, super slow-motion at 960fps and advanced 3D Creator.
The XZ3’s front-facing shooter is also an upgrade over the XZ2, and it offers a variety of beauty modes and bokeh effects. However, the software is a little odd, as you can only install these features via individual installations – you can’t do them all at once.
Battery
A mobile phone battery can degrade over time and eventually must be replaced. The good news is that you can bring new life to your smartphone by swapping out the old battery for a high-quality replacement.
The Sony Xperia Xz3 boasts a powerful 3,330mAh battery built for a solid day of use. It also comes with Qnovo Adaptive Charging, which monitors the cell’s electrochemical processes in real-time and adjusts charging parameters to minimize battery cell damage.
Its Quad HD screen is a significant improvement on the XZ2’s Full HD display, thanks to the switch to OLED technology and a bump in resolution. Bravia TV tech also considerably boosts visual quality, as the 6in the panel is pin-sharp and perfectly contrasted.
Performance
The Sony Xperia Xz3 is a premium Android phone with many horsepowers. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 845, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
It has an OLED display with 6 inches of screen space and HDR support. It also packs a 19-megapixel primary camera that can shoot 4K HDR video and has a 960fps slow-motion mode.
It also features a 13-megapixel selfie camera and a 3330mAh battery that can be recharged wirelessly. It also runs on Android 9 Pie, the latest version of Google’s mobile OS.
