Staley High School Football and Dance

Lisa Ruedisueli from KCTV reported on a historic sporting event at Staley High School – Missouri’s inaugural girls’ flag football league!

Staley High School has achieved great success on the athletic front, winning multiple state titles for cross-country running and wrestling as well as honors in choir and band music.

Football

The Staley Falcons football team has long enjoyed success both academically and athletically, winning multiple conference titles and sending athletes to state competitions in both boy’s and girls’ programs. Furthermore, the Emeralds dance team won the class 4A Missouri state championship in 2015.

Staley High School recently hosted its inaugural Girls Flag Football Jamboree in Kansas City, Missouri and college coach Jessica Grayson was there to observe and scout recruits.

KCTV reporter Emily Slater interviewed Grayson regarding her new role as Missouri’s first-ever female high school football coach, its history, and what it means for her as a woman. Grayson hails from Brooklyn, NY, and played for Dayton Flyers between 2004-05; during which time she amassed more than 1,900 yards passing, 16 touchdowns, and almost 800 rushing yards during a career that earned her first-team News-Herald and Plain Dealer selection, second team Football Gazette All-America selection as well as All Ohio honors and Lake County Touchdown Club All-Star selections.

Cross Country

Staley School boasts a longstanding legacy of success in cross-country running. Both boy’s and girls’ teams have won conference championships and been represented at the state competitions. Furthermore, the Emeralds dance team won the Class 4A Missouri State Championship in 2017 while other academic and musical programs received state or national recognition.

Becki Staley, our school’s newly appointed assistant coach, completed both track and cross country at Dickinson High School in North Dakota before running at both collegiate level (NCAA Cross Country Championships and Olympic Trials) as well as coaching experience from United Tribes Technical College and Bowling Green State University.

Amy fondly recalls cheering on Pat Summit’s Lady Vols during their early 90s run to victory against South Carolina at Notre Dame Stadium in Paris during the inaugural NCAA women’s regular-season game to be played there. Even now that Amy lives in her new home of Colorado Springs, her suitcase remains filled with blue and gold apparel as she travels the globe – even when teaching junior chemistry classes and participating in ASC programs at SLUH!

Wrestling

Staley High School was recognized as one of the premier wrestling schools in Missouri in 2021, boasting numerous national champions among its student body. Furthermore, its music programs such as its choir and band earned it praiseworthy reviews from patrons.

Staley claimed its first team state wrestling championship since Park Hill held on to it for four years in Class 4. Individual champions included Kearney’s Clayton Singh, Smithville’s Alex Rivera, and Liberty freshman Jeremiah Reno – making for an exciting victory!

Dom Bradley, Mizzou assistant coach, and Staley head coach noted Saturday as being a special moment for his family. Both sons, Zach and Rocky Bradley, wrestled for Staley High School under Dom’s tutelage and won multiple MSHSAA Class 4 titles under him before competing together at Missouri in its Tiger Style Invitational alongside Cal Poly, Maryland, SIUE, and Little Rock on one floor at 9 am CT – live streaming will begin shortly! Join in this opportunity and get noticed by college coaches.

Dance

Staley High School is well known for its award-winning programs. From dance team competitions and wrestling matches to sending several cross-country teams to state. Their music department has won multiple awards including an MMEA state choir competition trip. Students at Staley have also excelled, winning awards in STTV broadcasting, Talon Magazine, and Yearbooks – not forgetting their stellar community support that provides all sorts of support!

Parents dropping off students in the morning should do so at the front circle; students driving themselves will be expected to park in the back student parking lot (parking permit required). Please arrive early both for arrival and dismissal in order to avoid delays.
